Black Desert Updates Bring DX12 and FSR 3.1 to PC, XP Changes to Console

Black Desert adds PC graphics options and a world boss, while console gets XP changes and mobile heads into five weeks of events.

Black Desert Updates Bring DX12 and FSR 3.1 to PC, XP Changes to Console

Black Desert is getting a different mix of changes on each platform: PC gains DirectX 12 and FSR 3.1 support alongside a promotion for monster Rawr-Rawr, console receives its revised experience curve and level cap, and Mobile sets out a slate of events spanning October and November. The updates range from graphics technology to progression, giving players across the three versions distinct reasons to check their patch notes.

The platform-specific changes matter because they touch different parts of the game. PC players get new rendering and upscaling options, console players see progression adjustments previously introduced on PC, and Mobile players have seasonal activities ahead. None of the updates is a single shared release across all versions; each patch targets the way its community plays.

PC adds graphics options and reshapes a boss

The PC version has added DirectX 12 and FSR 3.1 upscaling. Pearl Abyss says the technologies should improve stability across a broad range of systems and help keep the game’s visuals stable. Their arrival came later than the developer had expected, and work is also underway on DLSS and FSR 4.1 support. Those latter options are still in development, so players should treat them as future additions rather than features included in this patch.

Graphics support is only one part of the PC update. Rawr-Rawr has moved from field boss status to world boss, with daily spawn times and rewards adjusted to fit the new role. That change gives the creature a more prominent place in the game’s boss schedule, while the accompanying hot-time event offers another reason to take part in the hunt. Players looking to catch the event can check the Rawr-Rawr event details for its terms.

The rest of the PC patch reaches several other activities and systems. Arena of Solare players have a new patch to explore, Corsair has received tweaks, and Edania now has additional Khalk variants. The update also includes interface changes, other events and bug fixes. The notes don’t frame these as one sweeping redesign; together, they make a broad maintenance update with adjustments for players who move between combat, seasonal content and the game’s menus.

Console gets the revised progression curve

Console players are receiving the experience changes that arrived on PC earlier in the month. The package raises the maximum level, adds the corresponding stat bonuses and smooths the experience curve. Together, those adjustments change both the long-term ceiling and the pace of progression on the way there. Players can find the earlier PC context in this report on the level cap and XP changes.

There’s more for console combatants in the same update. Common skills are now available to every class, and class balance has received finer adjustments. Arena of Solare begins a new regular season with new maps and matchmaking updates, while event horizon monster zones have also been improved. The patch rounds out with interface updates and a substantial list of bug fixes.

These changes land across progression, class options and competitive play, so their effects will depend on where players spend their time. The higher cap and smoother curve shape character advancement; common skills and balance work touch class play; and the Arena updates refresh a recurring competitive mode. The source notes describe the scope of each change but don’t give further detail on the matchmaking changes or the specific balance adjustments.

Mobile looks ahead to October and November

Black Desert Mobile is calling its upcoming run of activities Adventure ON, with events planned through October and November. The first listed activity is a Halloween screenshot event, running through November 17. Further activities are set to let players show off their chosen class and mark Thanksgiving. The available details don’t yet explain the format or rewards for those later events; the game’s subsequent patch notes should fill in those specifics.

The Mobile patch also brings updates outside the event schedule. Chaos Rifts now extend through levels XVIII to XXI, and more powerful skill sigils can be used across every character on an account. That account-wide availability changes how those sigils can be distributed among a player’s characters. A smaller set of class balance changes affects classes broadly, and specters in the Martial God Tournament have received AI improvements.

Taken together, the three updates point to a busy stretch for Black Desert players, with the most immediate decisions depending on platform: PC players can try the new rendering options or pursue Rawr-Rawr, console players can revisit progression and Arena of Solare, and Mobile players can plan around the seasonal activities as details arrive.

Read the PC update notes and Rawr-Rawr event notes. Console and Mobile details are available through the Black Desert Console and Black Desert Mobile updates. Players can also play Black Desert.
