Terraria Crossplay Nears Release as Re-Logic Prepares Version 1.4.6

Re-Logic says Terraria’s first crossplay phase is in testing, with fixes and platform submissions ahead of a hoped-for year-end launch.

Terraria Crossplay Nears Release as Re-Logic Prepares Version 1.4.6

Terraria Crossplay is "very close" as Re-Logic prepares the update 1.4.6 final submission - A character swinging a sword in the indie sandbox game.

Terraria’s first crossplay release is close enough that Re-Logic is preparing for platform submissions, giving the long-awaited feature a plausible path to launch before the year ends. The team has finished the planned work for crossplay phase one and put it through extensive testing, but a fresh round of checks found issues that need attention before version 1.4.6 can be sent onward.

That makes the next stretch less about adding new crossplay features and more about fixing what testing uncovered, then waiting for each platform’s review. Re-Logic hasn’t shared a launch date. Its current expectation is that it can resume submissions as soon as next week, provided the remaining fixes go smoothly.

Testing pushes back the submission schedule

In its October 2026 monthly update, Re-Logic described the crossplay work as being in its final stretch. Head of Business Strategy Ted “Loki” Murphy said the team completed the finishing touches earlier in the month and moved the update into extensive testing. Because crossplay connects players across multiple platforms, Murphy expects version 1.4.6 to receive closer scrutiny during review than a routine update.

The team had hoped to submit the PC, mobile and console versions during the week of the update. Its latest tests instead surfaced a few problems that need to be addressed first. Murphy said the delay should be brief, with submissions potentially back on track the following week if the fixes and further checks go well.

That schedule leaves two steps between the current build and release: sending the update through each platform’s review process, then waiting for approval. Murphy cautioned that crossplay could make that wait somewhat longer than usual. Once every platform has cleared the update, Re-Logic plans to release Terraria 1.4.6 and the first crossplay phase together.

For players, the key development is that crossplay is now in a testing and review cycle rather than an open-ended development window. The article doesn’t specify which platforms will be able to play together, or detail how the feature will work across them. Those specifics remain to come; for now, Re-Logic’s update establishes the progress and the remaining hurdles without giving a firm date.

Phase two is already on the team’s agenda

Re-Logic is also beginning to plan crossplay phase two and work beyond it as the year’s final months approach. Murphy said the monthly Terraria updates will remain the place to find more detail about those plans. No features or timing for the next phase were shared, so the immediate milestone remains getting version 1.4.6 through testing and platform review.

That sequencing matters for a feature that spans PC, mobile and console: even after the developers finish their work, release timing depends on review across those versions. A successful submission would bring the first phase closer, while the team’s next updates should clarify what crossplay phase two could add.

A new community manager joins Re-Logic

The October update also introduced Kerri R, known as “The Rat Queen,” as Re-Logic’s new Community Manager. She previously held the same role at Poncle, the studio behind Vampire Survivors. Murphy said Kerri will take on most social media posts and replies and help with the Terraria Community Forums and Discord.

Re-Logic didn’t hold its usual seasonal Halloween contest this year, but Murphy hinted that Kerri may bring new community ideas in the near future. Players can welcome her in a special introduction thread.

Terraria State of the Game October 2026 - New Community Manager Kerri 'The Rat Queen' introduces herself.

Kerri’s introduction came with a few personal favorites: she likes the Dryad, prefers the mage class, and says Arc Surge is among her favorite weapons because it feels satisfying to use. She also joked about keeping an eye on the Angler after completing her 200th fishing quest, and said she’d like to see more rats in Terraria.

Those details give the community update a lighter note, while the crossplay work remains the bigger player-facing development. Re-Logic is aiming to move quickly once the remaining issues are fixed, but the actual launch depends on testing and review across platforms. The next monthly update should be the clearest place to watch for a firmer timetable and details on what comes after phase one.
