Nintendo Indie World Showcase Sets Dates for Witchbrook, Sword of the Sea and More
Witchbrook arrives in January, Sword of the Sea lands on Switch 2 this October, and a packed slate of indie games is due across 2027.

The October 2026 Indie World Showcase mapped out a busy stretch for Nintendo players, pairing near-term releases with a long list of games due in 2027. The dates span both Switch and Switch 2, while the games range from a witch-themed life simulator and time-travel RPG to co-op horror, party golf and a physics-driven coin pusher.
Three dates arrive especially soon: Sword of the Sea reaches Switch 2 on October 29, 2026, Spirit Crossing follows on November 16, and Witchbrook opens its magical world on January 28, 2027. Several games also have free demos available through the eShop later on showcase day, giving players a chance to try them before launch.
Adventure games lead the lineup
Witchbrook, developed by Chucklefish and Robtality, now has a firm release date: January 28, 2027. The long-awaited witch-life simulator was the showcase’s opening headliner. Its date gives players a clear point to look forward to amid the larger group of games still slated for sometime next year.
Sword of the Sea makes the quickest jump from showcase to console. Giant Squid’s sword-surfing adventure arrives on Switch 2 on October 29, 2026. The studio is known for Abzu and Journey, and the game earned a Must-Play badge in Game Informer’s review. Players drawn to visually led adventures can pick it up the day after the showcase.
Two other games put exploration and atmosphere at the center. Kitsune: The Journey of Adashino follows a fox girl and her frog companion across a mysterious island, with shrines, towns and nighttime journeys through the unknown. It’s planned for Switch and Switch 2 in spring 2027. City of None, a 2D platformer from one of Celeste’s co-creators, sends players leaping through a strange city and fighting its enemies. Its pixel art and colors recall Game Boy Color games, while its release window remains sometime in 2027.
Winds of Viridia offers a different kind of movement-focused adventure. Shark Jump’s colorful 3D platformer is due next year, with exploration and nimble movement on display. A free demo is available on the eShop from showcase day, so players can get a feel for its platforming before the full release.
Threads of Time gives RPG fans another date to track: the time-traveling role-playing game is coming to both Switch and Switch 2 next summer. Its showcase footage stood out for its visual presentation, though no more specific launch date was shared.
Co-op, comedy and chaotic competition
Several announcements are built around playing with friends. Spirit Crossing, from the team behind Cozy Grove, invites players to create homes above the clouds and explore a shared world. It launches on Switch and Switch 2 on November 16, 2026. Haunted Paws takes a more focused co-op approach: two players control pups searching for their person inside a haunted mansion. Its side-scrolling 3D presentation suggests a gentler take on spooky adventure games. The game is due on both systems in May 2027, and a free demo is set for showcase day.
Dumpster Gang turns co-op into a raccoon-sized town disturbance. Players and friends take on the role of a mischievous group of raccoons, with the game set to arrive in March 2027. R.E.P.O., meanwhile, brings its PC multiplayer mix of physics-driven horror, looting and co-op play to Switch 2 sometime in 2027. Its appeal rests on the swing between frightening encounters and the comic chaos that can follow when a group tries to work together.
For a livelier competition, Super Battle Golf wraps golf around the kind of disruptive party play that can turn a friendly match into a scramble. The game is scheduled to launch on Switch 2 on March 25, 2027. Tenjutsu also adds a competitive edge, though its action is built around martial arts: the overhead-view roguelike has players take on crime syndicates, with a style that recalls action films and a designer from Dead Cells on its team. It’s due on Switch 2 in 2027.
My Arms Are Longer Now leans into absurd comedy, with its long-armed premise joined by voice performances from several Australian comedians. It launches on both Switch and Switch 2 on March 11, 2027. Super Battle Golf and My Arms Are Longer Now give the lineup two distinct ways to bring friends into the action: one through unruly rounds of golf, the other through a deliberately silly comic setup.
More ports, creatures and arcade-style play
Slime Rancher 2 brings its creature-collecting and home-building loop to Switch 2 in January 2027. Players vacuum up slimes, build a home for them and explore Rainbow Island. The Switch 2 edition will also include an exclusive in-game item. That gives returning players a familiar set of activities, while the new platform version adds a specific bonus.
Petal Runner, a critter-delivery adventure with a Game Boy-inspired look, is aiming for a full launch on March 8, 2027. A free demo is available later on showcase day. The game’s nostalgic presentation is paired with a heartfelt story, making the demo a useful first look for players who want to see how its delivery errands and narrative fit together.
Raccoin: Chaos Max Edition brings arcade-style coin pushing to Switch 2 on November 10, 2026, with a free demo also due later that day. It builds on the familiar idea of shoving tokens over an edge, adding more ways to send coins tumbling from the machine across repeated runs. Tanuki: Pon’s Summer gets a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition on the same November 10 date.
Additional release dates
The closing montage filled in more of the 2027 calendar. Bao Bao’s Cozy Cleaning Services is available later on showcase day, while Everything is Crab arrives January 26. Lost and Found Co. is planned for early 2027, as is Hyperyuki: Snowboard Syndicate. Finding Polka and Floor Plan: Slap Out Of It! are both set for spring 2027.
With demos arriving alongside several announcements and launch dates stretching from October into spring, the showcase gives Switch and Switch 2 players a practical shortlist to follow. The next thing to watch is how the games with broad 2027 windows firm up their dates, while the October and November releases offer the first chance to see this lineup in action.
