Modern Warfare 4 Patch Fixes Hijack Respawns and Search and Destroy Exploits
The latest Modern Warfare 4 update adjusts Hijack respawns, closes Search and Destroy exploits and fixes bugs across multiplayer and DMZ.

Infinity Ward’s latest Modern Warfare 4 update focuses on the parts of a match players feel immediately: where they respawn, whether an objective can be completed from an unintended position, and whether menus and loadouts behave as expected. The patch is live now, with fixes spanning standard multiplayer and DMZ.

Hijack receives a direct adjustment to spawn locations and respawn timing. In a mode where a poorly placed return can quickly put a player back under pressure, those changes could make the flow of a match feel more consistent. The notes don’t specify the revised locations or timing, so players will need to see how the adjustments play out in live matches.
Search and Destroy gets a fix for a defuse exploit that allowed players to interact with the bomb from an unintended distance or position. Infinity Ward has also closed an out-of-bounds route involving the Deathstalker killstreak on Rooftops. Both changes target situations where map positioning could give players access to an advantage the mode or map wasn’t designed to allow.
Multiplayer fixes reach beyond respawns
Several other multiplayer issues are addressed in the update. Portable Radar should now display correctly on the minimap in Hardcore, and the favorite Operators feature has been fixed on Collateral. Together, these are small but practical corrections: one affects information players rely on during a match, while the other restores an expected customization option on a specific map.

The patch also temporarily removes the regional map animation shown during matchmaking while Infinity Ward investigates reports that it causes hitching. That’s a measured response to a performance complaint: the animation is paused while the developer looks into the problem, rather than left in place as players continue to encounter it.
Outside matches, the update fixes menus that could close unexpectedly and finishing-move effects that could appear while players were looking at other menus. It also corrects a keybind issue: when players assigned a custom control for splitting inventory stacks, the displayed binding wasn’t updating properly. Animation bugs that could leave enemy players appearing in unintended states have been addressed as well.

Loadouts and DMZ get separate attention
Loadout corrections cover several equipment and Gunsmith problems. Non-melee weapons could appear in a weapon slot where they didn’t belong, while ineligible attachments on the M4 could create a visual glitch. Attachments also failed to reset automatically during Gunsmith prestige progression; that behavior has been fixed. DMZ weapon builds should no longer appear as usable options in regular multiplayer, keeping the two mode’s equipment setups properly separated.
DMZ’s fixes also address squad management, map access and mission behavior. Stash options should stop appearing unexpectedly in the middle of the screen, and party leaders can no longer pull teammates out of DMZ without their consent. An out-of-bounds glitch in the FOB has been removed, while multiple spots on Hajin where players could become stuck in rocks have been adjusted.
Mission and extraction issues round out the DMZ changes. The Exfil helicopter should no longer disappear while players are still inside it, and markers for the Dark Zone story mission should point to the correct target. AI reinforcements in the Shopping mission are also set to spawn less frequently, which may give squads more room to handle the objective.
Known issues remain under investigation
Infinity Ward is still investigating two reported problems: spectators being kicked at random, and a network error that can occur when extracting from DMZ with a looted Dog Tag. Those issues aren’t listed as resolved in this patch, so players who encounter them can check the Modern Warfare 4 Trello board for updates on known problems.
The patch’s broad spread suggests the early support work is focused on match reliability as well as individual exploits. The most visible changes are likely to be Hijack’s revised respawns and the Search and Destroy defuse fix; the menu, loadout and DMZ corrections should make the surrounding systems more predictable. How much the spawn adjustments change Hijack’s pace will become clearer as players put the update through regular matches.
