Paralives’ First Major Update Adds Skills, Jobs and Deeper Relationships
Paralives’ first major update is now expected in early 2027, with new skills, jobs, relationship options and improvements to core gameplay.

Paralives’ first major update is shaping up as a broad tune-up of the life game’s core systems, with new skills and jobs alongside deeper conversations, household stories and character customization. The studio now expects more time will be needed to finish the update well, putting its arrival likely in early 2027 rather than the end of 2026.

That delay comes with a substantial wishlist of changes. Paralives Studio says it reviewed hundreds of thousands of player reports, emails, messages and comments to decide what to tackle. Its priority is to improve the existing experience before moving on to larger features planned for future major updates, including weather, seasons, gardening, pets, cars, world editing and creation tools. Those plans are separate from the first update, whose scope could still change as development continues.
Conversations with more room to grow
Relationship building is a major focus. Players will get more ways to steer conversations toward flirting, jokes, insults or getting to know other Parafolks. Townies will also be able to prompt reactions through Together Cards, giving conversations more back-and-forth. Raising relationship tags such as friend, lover or enemy will unlock additional options, so those connections can open up new ways to interact.

The studio is also working on interactions that respond to a Para’s emotions, as well as actions that can trigger a particular emotional state. Parafolks will have more opportunities to act on their own, guided by their personalities. For group activities such as eating, watching TV or sitting together, added talking animations should help shared moments feel less static. Together, these changes point toward a social system with more visible responses to both a player’s choices and a character’s disposition.
Story Cards are getting a wider range of nightly options, too. These cards help direct how a household develops, so more choices could give players additional ways to shape a family’s direction over time. The update will also expand life goals and their rewards, improve Community Center bundles, and increase the payouts for Townie requests. The aim is to make these activities offer more appealing reasons to take part.

A more considered path through household life
Paralives Studio says money currently comes too easily. The update will adjust starting balances and lot costs, salary progression and item prices to make earning and saving matter more. More expensive furniture and household utilities are planned to provide stronger benefits and break less often than cheaper versions. That gives players a clearer reason to work toward home upgrades, with meaningful differences between an early purchase and a later investment in the household.
The Jester vibe trait is also being refined. The studio wants its effects to read more clearly as humorous and playful, rather than suggesting a character is simply erratic. It’s a small but telling adjustment: personality traits work best when players can recognize them in the choices and behavior they produce.

Two new skills, with related interactions, are in development, along with several jobs in a field the studio has yet to reveal. Those additions could give players more routes through daily routines and career progression, though details about the skills and roles haven’t been shared yet. New furniture and other objects will arrive alongside them, with the planned price and performance differences adding more texture to furnishing a home.
More ways to shape Parafolks
Paramaker will offer a broader range for its fat and muscle sliders, allowing players to create a wider variety of body shapes. The update will also bring more hairstyles and clothing, including requested baggy styles. For a character creator, additions like these can make a practical difference across an entire playthrough: players see their Parafolks in conversations, at work and around the home, so more options help households feel distinct from the start.
Build Mode is part of the update as well, with new furniture and items. The studio is also addressing bugs that can disrupt construction or prevent lots from loading, including cases where floors and objects disappear and lots become corrupted. Fixes to these problems should matter especially to players investing time in building and customizing homes, since a broken lot can interrupt the rest of the household experience.

Life games depend on small systems working together: social choices, money, personalities and home design all feed into the stories players create. Paralives’ update plan leans into that foundation, pairing fixes and balance changes with additions that broaden how players can guide a household. The studio hasn’t locked every item on the list; some features could be moved back, while others could still be added.
The team had initially aimed to release the update by the end of 2026, but says it needs more time to complete the work. Its update details describe a project that’s still in progress, with more updates on development expected before release. For players waiting on Paralives to deepen its everyday routines, the clearest takeaway is that the first major update is designed to strengthen the current game, while its larger additions remain on the horizon.
